Turn a sick day into a relaxing spa day!

Hi ladies! Since I’ve been feeling under the weather this weekend I thought I would show you how I use this time to have a spa day! Whether its applying a facial mask, or giving yourself a mani/pedi, you can customize it to your heart’s desire :) Here are some of my favorite things to do when I have a day full of R&R.

Warning- grab a snack girls, this is long one! I tried putting pictures into this post but my wordpress ap on my ipad has been acting up lately so if you don’t see any pretty pictures I apologize! I’ll see if I can fix it somehow :(

Fresh Faced
I try not to wear any makeup when I’m sick but hey, I’m a girl. What can I say? So to recharge my skin I like to keep it clean, fresh, and hydrated. This means drinking plenty of fluids, and I love ice cold green tea! Yum! But as for hydrating and cleaning my skin I start out by using either a mask if my skin is feeling really dry, or I’ll give myself an ice facial if I want that glow back in my skin. I won’t go too much into detail, but I wrote a blog post about an ice facial here! And if ice seems a bit intimidating, try splashing your face with cold water with your cleanser. It’s a great way to feel refreshed. Then to lock in the moisture after your mask or facial, I like to apply my Ponds dry skin cream and Argan oil mixed together and massage it onto my face. Oh, and don’t forget to keep those lovely lips hydrated too! Ahh much better!
Hand Jive
As much as I freakin love nail polish, it’s great to take some time and give your nails a breather. I begin prepping them by taking off any polish I’m wearing, then I wash my hands to clean off any polish remover from my finger tips. This is the time to then file, clip, or buff the nails into the shape and size you like. I don’t buff my nails very often because I feel like it strips my nails of any natural oils, so I keep buffing to once every 1-2 weeks. Buffing helps remove ridges, or any discoloration on the nail bed. Once your nails are to your liking, it’s time to apply some nail and cuticle serum. This insures your nails will be stronger, and smoother. The particular one I’m using takes about 2-3 weeks for noticeable results. But do far I love it! (I’ll do a full review after 2 weeks). Let that sink in and then I like to apply Juleps Oxygen nail treatment. It has the look of a clean, yet glamorous nail polish look, with nail care benefits. Don’t forget to give your hands a treat too! I love Caudalie’s nail and hand cream. I don’t do this everyday, but since this IS a spa day, I like to apply quite a bit of this cream and then slip a pair of gloves on to really lock in that moisture for soft and supple hands. Works like a charm!
Luscious Locks
As much as I love curling my hair and getting all dolled up, it’s nice to give your hair a personal day. And there is no better way to do that than while you’re feeling sick! Now I know sometimes when you’re sick, you just don’t want to move from that couch, but trust me. If I can do it, you can do it! While you’re in the shower, give yourself a hair mask. You can find them anywhere in the drugstore, but if you don’t feel like leaving the house just use the conditioner you use everyday and leave it on for 3-5 minutes. While that’s in your hair you can shave your legs, exfoliate your skin, you get the idea :) Once you’re out of the shower apply your normal product, I love using Living Proof anti frizz nourishing styling cream and Aveeno’s leave in conditioner spray. Normally this is when you would turn on your blow dryer, but I like to air dry my hair and give it a break from the heat. If you absolutely must blow dry your hair make sure you use a heat protectant and turn the dryer settings to low. I know air drying your hair doesn’t look amazing, but trust me your hair will thank you!

Now just sit back and relax and enjoy your sick day turned into a spa day. Enjoy!

Stay fabulous!
