New products from E.L.F…let’s talk about it

Hi ladies! This was highly requested, so I went to my closest Target, and I grabbed some of the products I posted a couple days ago. I only grabbed 1 of each thing because I wasn’t sure how they would perform in a wear test. All the items I purchased were at an excellent price point. Elf is great for those just starting out in the makeup world and looking to build a kit, or you are a huge makeup geek like me! Either way, here are my first impressions on these new items, and whether or not I think it’s worth your time and money! And don’t forget to check out the E.L.F. website to check out all the colors in these products!

Color
Rock Out
My Target didn’t have some of the colors that E.L.F. has on their website, so I wasn’t able to get the colors I really wanted. However, I found a nice shimmery gray/taupe called Rock Out. It’s a twist up! No more sharpening! NYX, seriously get on that with your jumbo pencils! The pigmentation is definitely there, it’s very smooth and creamy when applied to the skin, and it has a lovely metallic finish. You can wear this alone as long as you’re wearing a good primer underneath, or pair it with an eye shadow color of your choice for a more dramatic look. The only thing I dislike is the size. I wish they were like the size of the Nyx jumbo pencils, but for the price I really can’t complain. Overall these are great for the price. I will definitely be buying more colors from their website :)

Color
Pink Umbrellas
I really wanted to like this lippy, but there were many things I didn’t like about it unfortunately. The first thing I noticed was the smell. It’s a combination between cough medicine and a weird mint smell. Ick!! It’s just not right. Pigmentation wise, I felt like I had to keep applying it over and over again to get anything to show up on my lips. It applies nice and smooth, but if you have any sort of chapped lips, this will make your lips look even worse so make sure you exfoliate really well. You’re better off shelling out $5-6 and getting some Revlon lip butters or Milani’s new color statement lip colors. But, it was only $2, so no harm done to my wallet. Maybe it was just this color, I might buy a darker one to see if it’s any different. As for now, I have a feeling that the lighter colors have pigmentation issues.
Baked Eyeshadow

Color
Dusk
I am happy to say that I am really loving this Baked Eyeshadow! The color is a lovely gray/navy duo tone with a shimmery, metallic-like finish. To achieve this awesome pigmentation, you must must must use an eye primer! I can’t stress enough how much of a different a primer makes. I swatched this without a primer and I wasn’t impressed. There was hardly any color pay off, and it was very chalky. I then tried it with my Tarte 360 creaseless primer, and it made a huge difference. That’s when I really saw the blue and green tones within the gray shadow. I also paired it with the Rock Out jumbo eyeshadow stick and it turned into a more dramatic color which would be great for a smoky eye look. For $3, these are a great buy!

Don’t forget to check out their website!
Stay fabulous!
